Senda Travel was founded by a pair of former archaeologists who grew tired of watching travelers rush past the things that matter most. The name — senda means path or trail in Spanish — reflects their philosophy: the best travel follows a thread rather than a checklist. They started with Peru, where their academic background gave them access to archaeological sites and community relationships that most operators can't match, then expanded to Egypt and Portugal as their team grew. What connects all three programmes is a commitment to ground-level expertise — every guide has lived in or studied the destination for years, not just led tours there.

Senda's academic roots show in the best possible way. Their Egypt itinerary goes places most operators don't because most operators don't have the relationships Senda has built over fifteen years. In Peru, their access to Sacred Valley communities and pre-dawn Machu Picchu visits are genuinely hard to replicate. Portugal is their newest programme and already one of their strongest — the food-forward Douro Valley routing feels like it was designed by someone who actually lives there, because it was. Three very different destinations, one consistent standard of depth and access.
