We bring together a carefully selected collection of independent operators who build trips with genuine depth, strong local knowledge, and a clear point of view — so you can find the right trip without spending hours hunting for it, and book with confidence knowing every operator here has been vetted.

We're not a booking platform — we're more like a trusted edit. Rather than adding every operator we can find, we curate a small collection of operators we've personally vetted. That said, we do offer something a booking platform does well: more options in one place, making it easier to compare and find the right fit. When you find a trip you're interested in, you submit an inquiry through Paper Trails and we will make a personal introduction to the operator. From there, you book directly with them. The goal is for the whole process to feel seamless.

Every operator on Paper Trails is evaluated against a set of curation criteria including: the quality and thoughtfulness of their itineraries, the strength of their on-the-ground leadership, their approach to inclusions and pricing, their group size and dynamic, and their commitment to responsible travel. Yes — completely free for travelers. There are no fees or markups on top of the operator's price. You pay the operator's direct booking price.
